Kudos

There’s no such thing as a “small act” of kindness – each bit of thoughtfulness we display can have lasting and memorable effects. Several of our members have written or called in to express their gratitude to United employees – and we’d like to share their words of kindness here.

(Their home burned on Dec. 26)

We want to personally thank you for always being so efficient no matter what the problem. A transformer blows in the middle of the night in the middle of a storm and you are there. I’m scared to death of the dark, bulb blows from one of my security lights and you are there.

My home burns to the ground, all we have left is our security lights and low and behold you made it possible again. You were there to turn on enough electric so our security lights would work and we could watch our land from a neighbor’s house where we temporarily reside. Again a GREAT BIG THANK YOU.

Sincerely Patsy and Leonard Hadix :)

Dear Mr. Scott,

I am writing this email concerning one of your employees, Jeff Pannell. As you know, last night January 7th, 2010 was very ,very cold. My husband and I were watching T.V. at around 6:15 pm waiting patiently for the Texas vs. Alabama game to begin. In a flash our electricity went out. We went outside to see what happened and who else in our neighborhood might also be without power. Our neighbor was the only one. I called and the gentlemen I spoke with from your company(I should have gotten in his also) was extremely polite to me and said someone is already on their way. Within 15 minutes a truck was parked in front of my house. I went outside to be greeted by Jeff Pannell(I hope I spelled it correctly). He explained all he was going to do and approximately how long it would take. He even had a good sense of humor when I told him that I had an angry husband inside who was waiting for the game to start. We both laughed and he went to work. Every step of the way he kept us informed. He also took the time to answer all of my husband’s questions. When all was on , he told us he would wait outside for about 15 to 20 minutes to make sure all went according to plan. I offered him a warm place to stay and some coffee and he said "No, Ma'am thank you I will just wait out here." I said "the game is on, he laughed and said I can hear it on the radio." He was out in that cold weather, after working all day and still had a pleasant attitude. He was very concerned about us and wanted to get our heat back on as soon as possible. I am a school teacher( so do not correct my grammar, I am a math teacher ha-ha) and I know very seldom do I hear nice things from parents. It always seems the good things people do in their jobs, get unnoticed to many times. I just want you to know even though Jeff's job requires him at times to be out in the cold or heat he never showed us anything other then concern for us. Please let him know that we greatly appreciated the promptness , respect and of course the job well done that he provided for us.

Sincerely,

Rita Whitfield
