United Cooperative
Services’ Annual Meeting is an evening of customer appreciation and an
opportunity to update member/owners about the past year’s business
successes and accomplishments. After 69 years in
business, the Annual Meeting is also a perfect time for members to
gather together and learn more about the co-op.
Members are encouraged
to attend for many reasons. First and foremost, the meeting caps off
the election process for United’s Board of Directors. Members can vote
by mail by sending in the ballot located on the cover of the September
issue of Texas Co-op Power or they can vote in person prior to the
Annual Meeting. Election results are announced at the end of the Annual
Meeting.
Equally important is
the Manager’s report given by CEO/General Manager Ray Beavers. The
year-in-review is a narrative of United’s 2006 Annual Report, made available
in the September 2007 issue of Texas Co-op Power. Copies of the Annual
Report will also be available during the Annual Meeting. To download a

Also, the Annual
Meeting is the perfect time for members to ask questions and gather
information on the happenings of the co-op. United members can meet
their board members and co-op employees all while enjoying the other
activities going on during the Annual Meeting.
The
2007 Annual Meeting was held on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007 at the Glen Rose
Auditorium in Glen Rose. In addition to refreshments, United members received an
energy conservation kit, a United Cooperative Services ball cap and can pick up free
promotional items. Names of registered
attendees were be drawn to receive dozens of door prizes and voter’s
names will be pooled together for a drawing to receive cash
prizes.
During
this year’s meeting, booths were set up to help members answer
questions or get more information on energy conservation, customer
service and key accounts. While at the Annual Meeting, United
members learned more about the community programs of the co-op,
including energy efficiency, conservation and Rural Friends/ACRE.
United
again sponsored
the health fair,
which offered many new features for members.
After members
registered for the Annual Meeting at the Main Auditorium and received
their goodie bag, they were escorted to the Health Fair by a United
employee. Once members registered at the Health Fair, they
received a Health Report Card, which is used to indicate individual
health checks as members travel from station to station and includes a
checklist for nurses and technicians to record levels of lab work, scans
and cholesterol levels.
The 2007 Health Fair
stations included set-ups for physical therapy, pulmonary function,
blood sugar and cholesterol level lab testing, blood pressure checks,
bone density screenings, carotid Doppler scans and skin cancer checks.
Other stations included a senior care booth, an information booth with
material from health groups such as the American Cancer Society and the
American Heart Associate and a table featuring give-aways and
information about the Glen Rose Medical Center.
