prePower

prePower to debut in 2011

WHAT IS prePower METERING?

prePower will be a pay-as-you-go plan that offers the flexibility to pay for your United electric service when you want, in the amounts you want. Instead of receiving a traditional paper bill each month, usage is calculated daily. prePower members won’t pay a late charge, disconnect or reconnect fee and will have the ability to monitor their usage online daily.

Self-managing your account will offer you the flexibility when prePower launches later in 2011!

  • Say goodbye to deposits and monthly bills.
  • Customize your own payment schedule to fit your monthly budget.
  • Buy electricity when convenient and buy enough energy to last until payday, or in any dollar increment you wish.
  • Monitor your consumption.

IS prePower RIGHT FOR YOU?

Would it be easier for to make weekly or biweekly payments rather than one large payment each month? If so, prePower metering could be ideal for you.

WHEN WOULD YOU RECEIVE A LOW BALANCE NOTICE?

When you set up your prePower account, you will set the balance at which you want to receive low balance notifications.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF MY prePower ACCOUNT RUNS LOW?

LOW BALANCE: If your prePower account balance falls below your selected balance reserve, you will be contacted via a method of your choosing (eg. automated telephone message, e-mail or text message) to notify you that a payment should be made.

PENDING DISCONNECT: If your account reaches a negative balance, you will receive a pending disconnect alert. If a payment is not made immediately, the account will be disconnected.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY ELECTRIC SERVICE IS DISCONNECTED?

  • Your account will be subject to disconnection at any time the balance is negative.
  • Once disconnected, you must have a minimum credit of $20 before power is restored.
  • If you have a debt recovery account, a percentage of each payment will go toward the unpaid balance before the remaining amount is applied to your prePower account.
  • A daily service charge plus tax accrues on your account even when service is idle.
  • Ten days after disconnection, you will receive a final bill. To restart service, you must open a new account, paying any outstanding balance.

HOW WILL I MAKE prePower WORK FOR ME?

When it launches in 2011, a prePower account will likely work best for members who want to take control of their electric account and energy usage. By monitoring consumption on a regular basis, you will begin to notice patterns in your day-to-day usage. Monitoring and managing daily usage can help keep electrical costs down, and statistics indicate prepaid electricity programs help lower electric consumption because members have become more aware of personal usage patterns.
